Wednesday, March 31, 2004 Air America Radio: On the Air In less than 30 minutes, Air America goes live. It's Al Franken's new baby, a left-leaning talk-radio network, and it's here to help balance out the right-dominated airwaves. Finally. Other on-air hosts include Janeane Garofalo (a three hour evening slot!), comedian Lizz Winstead, and Public Enemy's Chuck D. Can't wait to hear what they've got planned. Unfortunately for us Bostonians, it's only available in NYC, LA, Chicago, Portland, and Inland Empire, CA. According to their website, however, they'll offer online streams as soon as they go live, in addition to an XM Satellite Radio feed. Great news. If the streams appear online, I'll be listening closely. update: The stream is up. "Broadcasting from an underground bunker 3500 feet below Dick Cheney's bunker." Click here to listen live. The first official episode of "The O'Franken Factor" has hit the airwaves, and while there's some expected network congestion, Al already has me laughing. "To Bill O'Reilly: Satire is still protected speech, even if the subject of that satire doesn't get it." another update: : After a little searching, I've discovered that one of the stations on Air America's initial broadcast list, Portland, Oregon's KPOJ, has their own online stream. Go here for the hookup. For now, it's much more stable than the direct Air America feed. $blog_id=108075133926125406; $blog_mail="bsearles@gmail.com"; $file_name=$PHP_SELF; global $blog_id, $blog_mail, $file_name; include ("blogkomm/module/blogkomm_show_link.php"); ?> |
