[Boston-Area Action 6/11/25] My Show-Going Plans & New Show Announcements
Posted on June 11, 2025 at 3:24 pm | 1 Comment
Another Wednesday already, so time to make a Boston-area shows post. I was in no mood to post last week, and while I’m slightly better now, it’s hard to think about much other than the in-progress march towards martial law happening on the other coast. Allow me to get out my fiddle while…
So, yeah, in case this is your first time seeing this, every Wednesday I mention Boston-area I’m hoping to attend in the next seven days (though not necessarily the only shows I’ll end up at), along with recent local show announcements.
I have a bunch of non-music stuff happening this weekend, so I’m extremely light on the personal show-plans, but the one I’ve got is quality (Karate & Hilken!), and as far as the announcements go, one blows my mind: Freakin’ Team Dresch returns! Also: I can’t make it, but check out the Lovina Falls single release show at Deep Cuts on Friday with The Daylilies & Roser. The full list of shows that stand out for me is over in the right hand column.

[Boston-Area Action 5/28/25] My Show-Going Plans & New Show Announcements
Posted on May 28, 2025 at 12:05 pm | No Comments
Another Wednesday! New Comic Book Day! No, wait, that’s not it. I mean, it is, but it’s not what I post about every week on this particular morning. I share a list of Boston-area shows I’ll be attending in the next week, along with ones around here that have been newly-announced. Here goes.
Highlights: Release shows! Both the Thalia Zedek Band & Kathy Snax are commemorating new recordings, with TZB’s excellent LP having arrived last week (celebrating Friday at O’Brien’s), and Kathy Snax offering up a new cassette EP at a Lizard Lounge show on Saturday. Both lineups are ace, so get thee to one or both of those. Tonight I’m gonna try to hit up the Silhouette to see some Mill Pond Falls, and I’m tempted to catch Sunday’s tribute show for the sadly-departed Jill Sobule, where Tanya Donelly will be making an appearance.
And in a familiar refrain, there’s a conflict that I wish I could somehow double-dip on: That TZB release show on Friday is up against Orbit & Eldridge Rodriguez & Harris at the Crystal Ballroom at Somerville. Waaaaay on the other side of the river. Oof.
Anyway, here’s my ideal itinerary, followed by a relatively short list of new show announcements (Built to Spill! Oceanator! The Armed!). Did I miss any new show news you’re psyched about? Comment with it. Anything in the next few days you’re looking forward to seeing? Share it. Did I screw something up in the details of this thing? (answer: yes) Set me straight.
The full list of shows on my radar is, as it has been for 25 years (gulp), available over in the right hand column.
