[Boston-Area Action 3/18/26] Show-Going Plans & New Show Announcements
Posted on March 18, 2026 at 12:41 pm | No Comments
Alright, my brain is buzzing, and I should probably crank out this weekly Wednesday Boston-area shows post before my lunch break ends and I get distracted by something that I actually get paid for.
So here it is… a run-down of local shows I’m hoping to check out (or that you might be into) in the week ahead, along with just-announced ones that have appeared on the rusty ol’ radar. Comment with additions/corrections, but check the right-column over there before you do. A more complete list sits over there.

Not a ton of solid personal show-going plans ahead, which I’m fine with since the last couple weeks have been nuts. I somehow won a pair tix to see the Hives on Friday (wanna join? I have yet to invite a co-pilot), might see Black Beach on Saturday, and am definitely going to this month’s edition of Which Side?: A Protest Music Teach-Out on Tuesday. Oh, and I’m also gonna hang with Bob Odenkirk and a couple hundred other people at the Brattle tonight. Beyond those intentions, I’m open to influence. Or just my couch.
As far as new announcements go, I’m psyched that there’s a Programme 4 stop booked for Arlington (though not psyched it’s on the same night as Good Flying Birds :-/). Also conflicted by the Breeders show in Beverly that clashes with Pedro the Lion at a Cambridge church. I am absolutely thrilled that Bent Shapes are back (!), and am mighty tempted by that Public Image Ltd. show in October. My love of Lu Edmonds (and, ok, yeah, those PiL songs), outweighs my distaste for current-era Lydon, and I’m surprised they’re finally coming back after Johnny’s clear dissatisfaction with the crowd size last time they were in town… 14 years ago (!). Time heals all, I guess, and they’re playing a smaller venue this time.
So here’s what up, and what’s further ahead…

[Boston-Area Action 3/11/26] Show-Going Plans & New Show Announcements
Posted on March 11, 2026 at 1:45 pm | No Comments
It’s a Wednesday, after a ridiculously beautiful couple of fake-Spring days here in the Boston area, and I feel like I have a sunshine hangover. Winter ain’t over, but yesterday gave a preview of what the rearview will look like. Glorious. It’s time for my weekly “imminent shows around here I’m psyched about, and recent announcements that you might be into” post. Yup, still no succinct title for these things. Whatevs.
The usual disclaimer: This is not a complete list, not even close. Just things I’m aware of and interested in. If I missed something you’re jazzed about, either happening this week or just-announced, throw it in the comments (over on farcebook, if you prefer). If I screwed up any info, lemme know that, too. There’s a more extensive list over in the right-hand column, so have a look there before you fill me in.
My own impending highlights? Well, tomorrow’s benefit for Jeff Conolly, of course. Mission of Burma is supposedly on first, just doing a few songs. But don’t you dare leave, because the rest of the lineup is ace. And Friday brings a great bill to Faces Brewing Co., including the return of Unmade Bed (get there early). Over to Deep Cuts on Saturday for the long-awaited return of Some Velvet Sidewalk, topping another killer lineup (Lupo Citta! Minibeast!). Were it not for that show, I’d be over at the Middle East for Daniel Romano’s Outfit, who put on one hell of a live show.
Announcement highlights? Corin’s birthday show in a couple weeks at Medford Brewing, and a couple of Pedro The Lion duo house shows in June (including one that’s happening very close to where I’m currently sitting). Also of note: I included a rare Worcester show in these listings, because that April 3rd lineup at Ralph’s rules. Most confounding mismatch between a performer and a venue? That’d be the EMF gig that was just announced for… City Winery. Yes, an energetic dance band playing while you’re forced to sit and eat. Unbelievable.
Alright, here are this week’s run-downs of plans & new announcements…
