My frustration over our administration’s continuing worldwide clusterf*ck (sorry, mom) is reaching a boilingpoint. I can no longer sit idly by, reading article after article, embarassment after national embarassment, and watch as any international solidarity we had after the towers fell trickles away. My busy life affords little free time, but I’m going to be spending a bunch of it working on the Dean campaign. Amie and I signed up over the weekend, and we’re ready to go. Bring on a Boston office, and we’re there.
Howard Dean’s not afraid to speak his mind about the serious long-term consequences of a misguided attack of Iraq. Take a look at the transcript of his appearance on Meet the Press last Sunday. He answers questions first with a simple Yes or No, then proceeds to explain his position. What a novel idea, huh? Thing is, his domestic positions and agenda is even stronger. He’s gaining momentum, and I’m along for the ride.
Britain’s International Development Secretary, Clare Short, may quit over Tony Blair’s support of Bushy. John Brady Kiesling, a career U.S. diplomat, resigned his post in protest over the current agenda. Pulitzer winning artist Art Spiegelman quits the New Yorker due to their noticable shift to the right since September 11th. Principled people all. The world needs more like them in positions of influence, and that’s why I’m putting my energy behind Dean. It may be a long shot, and it won’t have any impact on the current situation, but I’m so tired of feeling helpless.
