[Boston-Area Action 5/1/25] Shows This Week & New Show Announcements
Posted on May 1, 2025 at 10:01 am | No Comments
Well, this would be the regular Wednesday list of upcoming Boston-area shows I’m hoping to make it to, along with new show announcements since last week… except that it’s Thursday. Yeah, yesterday got away from me. Maybe you caught the Chameleons at Big Night Live last night? Or hit Toad in Cambridge for the return of the Baker Thomas Band? You couldn’t find two more drastically different venues for shows, that’s for sure.
Here’s what’s on my radar locally this week (minus last night), followed by new show announcements. Particularly psyched about the Mould/Robbins team-up tomorrow night & the Barlow/Bare Jr. team-up on Sunday. Ace weekend ahead. As usual, glance to the right for the full list.

Hey, it’s my Wednesday morning rundown of newly-announced Boston-area shows alongside my optimistic personal event-going plans over the next week. Still no catchy name for this weekly post. Don’t have it in me.
I was thinking on Monday afternoon that there hadn’t been many shows announced since last week… then Tuesday hit (as Tuesday does) and BAM! Sebadoh, Pulp, Elvis Costello doing the old stuff, Greg Norton & friends doing Husker Du, & more. That list is below, after I map out my own imminent itinerary…
Which involves, as usual, choices. The overlap of the Independent Film Festival Boston and the The Town & The City Festival up in Lowell is a bummer, and I’m going to try and do a bit o’ both. Even the IFFB itself has me making a tough call: The Pavements movie conflicts with the Butthole Surfers documentary (with Gibby in attendance!) on Saturday night. Oof.
Anyway, in a broken world, these are hardly ‘problems’. Enough whining, here’s what’s up. Full list over in the right hand column, as always —->

My own week ahead…

for a screening of “Megalopolis”
@ Coolidge Corner Theatre
