It’s hard to imagine my sister and (new) brother-in-law’s wedding weekend being any more perfect than it was. The ideal Vermont weather, the unique on-a-boat setting, the moving (uh, literally) ceremony, the jaw-dropping Lake Champlain sunset, the food, new family, old friends, crazy dancing (well, for Amie and I, it was just spectating… which was actually just as much fun for us.) Really, everything came together just so smoothly, I can’t picture a more fun, and even relaxing, celebration of Kate and Jim’s marriage. I swear, sitting up on the deck of the Ethan Allen at dusk, surrounded by the people I care about … it’s been a long time since I’ve felt so content, and been surrounded by so much, well, joy.
Throw in a couple killer lakeside bike rides, some amazing bath-water pool time, breakfast at the Penny Cluse, and even an under-the-stars rock show by the band on Friday, and you have the makings of what may have been the best weekend ever. I’m still reeling.
Now I’m back home, diving into work, and trying to keep on the exercise trip I’ve been on. Band practice tonight & Thursday, another rock show at TTs on Friday. It’s pretty tough to find the time to work out, do the band thing, and just plain relax. Soul-sucking 90 degree humid-heat doesn’t help matters, but I’m determined.
