[Boston-Area Action 7/8/2026] Show-Going Plans & New Show Announcements

Under the gun once again, doing the work of two people at the day job (blame summer vacas), so hardly a moment to spare to crank out this weekly “impending Boston-area shows I’m interested in or ones that you might be” post, which also includes recently-announced local rock shows & other events. A bunch of good bands are playing, despite the expected summer lull that happens around this college-crammed town this time of year. Mostly that means I don’t have three or four conflicts every night, just one or two.
Tonight there’s the second-in-a-row Future Teens show at Deep Cuts, this time with shallow pools, and Buck Meek is over at The Sinclair while American Football plays the Royale. Tomorrow has a seriously cool throwback show at the Sinclair with Jejune & the Shyness Clinic, while Friday brings Hey I’m Outside to the Burren to open up Other Brother Darryl’s LP release show. Cape Crush also celebrates their new record that night at Deep Cuts, and Youbet are at the Lilypad. Saturday’s lineup at Sonia looks pretty special, with the Veldt, Lovina Falls, Vivid Bloom, & Spirit Hotel. Meanwhile, Sad13 (Sadie from Speedy Ortiz) will be up in Malden at Faces with New Idea Society (Stephen Brodsky of Cave-In & Mike Law) and Real Beaut. Beyond that, the man Joe Jackson plays the Chevalier Theatre in Medford on Tuesday, but that one’s long sold out.
Announcement-wise, the lineup for late August’s Ratchella was shared, and the dates for the next Fuzzstival were too (early Oct). Chris Brokaw remains busy as always, as he announced a show with his band The Martha’s Vineyard Ferries & Minibeast at Deep Cuts, along with a duo show there in October with Tanya Donelly. Also very glad to see Deerhoof returns to town with a night at the Crystal Ballroom in November, and totally up for catching The Dogmatics with Muck and the Mires & White Dynomite in late September.
